SLJ 2019 Week 3 Driving Digital Innovation

Activity 2 Influences

YouTube is a video sharing website, where people can watch, create, share and comment on videos.

YouTube was designed in 2005 by three men- Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim.

For this activity imagine that you had the chance to create your own YouTube channel. What would it be about? What kinds of videos would you create and post?

I would post gaming videos and tutorials to help everyone complete different games.

I would also post game reviews and shout outs to anyone to subscribed.

SLJ 2019 Week 1 Day 5 Against The Odds

Activity 3 Own Choice

We had to choose a person that changed the world.

I chose Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr, was a civil rights speaker. In 1963 Martin made a speech called " I Have A Dream" He was speaking about "Black peoples rights". Up until 1963 "Black people" were used as slaves and they could not do the same stuff "White people" could do. They had separate schools, and they could not be together for anything.

He impacted the lives of everybody now "Black people" can do anything that "White people" can do.
Unfortunately Martin Luther King Jr got assassinated on the 4 April 1963.

This is the Google drawing that I made of Martin Luther King Jr.

SLJ 2019 Week 1 Day 3 Team Players

Activity 2 Defiying The Odds.

LeBron James is one of the most famous basketball players in the world. He currently plays in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Stevan Adams also plays in the NBA, but unlike LeBron, Steven was born in Rotarua, NZ

For this activity we had to write 5 questions about an interview with LeBron James, Steven Adams or another basketball player.

I chose to interview Steven Adams and these are my 5 questions.

1:What is it like having a very famous Olympian as your half sister?
2:What culture do you mostly identify with?
3:How tall are you?
4:Do you have any other brothers and sisters?
5:How many 3 pointers have you got this season

Activity 1 Flying Solo

Jean Batten was a famous aviator who was born in Rotarua New Zealand in 1909

Amelia Earhart was an American aviator who lived at the same time as Jean Batten.

For this activity we had to make a Venn Diagram about these two pilots. We had to do at least 3 differences and similarities I couldn't find many facts about either of them but I managed to finish it

This is the Venn Diagram that I made.

How to detect Phishing

Today for Cyber Smart we learnt about Phishing. Phishing is trying to take other peoples personal information and passwords. There are many different ways to stay safe from Phishing. Like on secure websites the URL will have https and a green lock symbol. And if its not safe it will have a triangle with a ! inside it. In some emails instead of saying your name eg. Hi Dylan! Richard here. But sometimes it can be fake by saying Dear Friend. And Wikapedia can be fake too because anybody can write on Wikapedia. We looked at a fake  website about a Tree Octopus. and there were blurry pictures and for some reason a Blue Ringed Octopus was climbing a tree so I instantly knew it was fake. Here is the  Tree Octopus Link. See if you can tell if its fake

Time Estamation

Today for Strand Maths we did a time estimation sheet. We had to estimate how long it would take us to writ 1-100, Read a picture book and 30 star jumps. It took me a while to write 1-100 and it was a bit hard. I thought it would take me 3 minutes to write 1-100 but it took me 2.42. I thought it would take me 1.00 to read a picture book but it took me 41 seconds. I thought it would take me 50 seconds to do 30 star jumps but it took me 20 seconds.  Most of my estimates were under 20 seconds away. I could improve my writing from 1-100 by practicing. my closest estimate was 18 seconds away. Here is my estimates.

Division

For math today we did division. We learnt a new strategy that you slip the whole number into two parts and then you divide the two parts into the number that you are dividing. eg. 78 ÷6=? divide the number into two parts so 60 and the leftovers are 18 then you divide those numbers by the 6 so 60 ÷6=10 and 18÷6=3. So 10+3=13 so 78÷6=13. We also had word problems and with the strategy they were pretty simple. These are some of the problems we had to work out.
