Hello everyone welcome back to my blog. Today for English we read a short story about bullying. We also had to answer some questions about the story and us. These are the questions.

What did this poem make you think about a bully?

This poem made me feel bad for the bully. He obviously does it for a reason and he probably wants someone to be friends with him. The bully needs somebody to be friends with so they probably won't bully anybody if they at least have someone to stop them.

If you saw this bully what would you do?

I would choose to be an upstander and talk to the bully to see why he bullies people. I would also get an adult I trust to come and talk with the bully and hopefully make him stop bullying.

Part 2 Conflict & Assertiveness

We have also been learning the definitions of a few different words to do with bullying. There are 5 different words. Assertive, Passive, Aggressive, Boundaries, and Conflict. These are the definitions of all of the words we have been doing.

Assertive: You state firmly with authority.

Passive: not active, not resisting or fighting against. So you're basically just agreeing.

Aggressive: To fight back and likely to attack people. This means that you are always on the attack and rude/mean to people.

Boundaries: The limits we set for what we will accept. This means that you set lines that you have to stay in.

Conflict: To fight, struggle or disagree.

The Bullet

Today in "Hurumanut 4" we had to read a book of our choice and answer some questions about it. The book I chose is called "The Bullet". It's about a boy who is bullied at his new school The boy finds the bullet because a man who comes up to him in his car and offers him a smoke and the bullet falls out of the car. The boy grabs the bullet and takes it to school to show everyone how cool he is. Once we had read the book we had to answer some questions on a blog post. The questions are...  

#1 Do you think Rodney cares who or what the bullet was meant for? Why do you think that?

I don't think Rodney cared about who the bullet was for he just wanted everyone to think he is cool.

#2What clues can you find in the text that will help you to understand why the boy might be with the police now?

Because the car smelled bitter. Maybe drugs? In possession of a prohibited substance? And he asked Rodney if he wanted a smoke.

Why doesn’t he look cool anymore? What has changed?

He doesn't look cool anymore because of hid sunglasses and he looks nervous because he got caught by the cops.

What is Charmaine’s opinion of the boy? What does she mean by “guys like him”? Do you agree with her? Why or why not?

"Guys like him," I think she means like boy racers or the people who blast their music in their cars because "They're Cool"

What do you think Rodney has learned from the events in the story?

I think that he has learned to not take stuff that is his and hide it from other people. He should've handed it into the police.

What do you think the author’s theme or message was? What is your response to this?

I think the "Theme or Message" is to not take stuff that isn't yours and instead of hiding something dangerous turn it into the police or tell an adult you trust.

I think this book is very good for readers who like mysteries and Sci-fi
The main character is Frank
We did some sheets that help us to look more deeply at characters and inference
My favorite part of the book is when he destroys the guitar
Definitely read this book.
I rate it a 4 and a 1/2

Flow Chart (Invasion)

This week for literacy our groups (Bad Dad Boy In The Dress) Have Been learning About Germs And Blood Cells Killet T Cells And all of that stuff. We had to make a flow chart from the story "Invasion"

About the author slides

In Literacy We are learning to FOCUS on our learning. With the help of our FOCUS charts I have been getting most of my work finished. Once we have read a couple of  books we write a book report.
And an about the author I have done 2 book reports and  1 about the author the other  about the author
I could not find anything. What I found challenging was getting all of the information about the authors.
I found interesting was how some of the inventors in EUREKA! thought up the inventions.
