Mean, Median, Mode, And Range
Today for Hurumanu 6 (Math) we had to create a DLO (Digital Learning Object) about how to calculate the Mean, Median, Mode, and Range. It took a bit of time because I didn't know what some of them were and I had so re-learn them again. But I did complete it and I think it's a pretty good explanation of how to calculate them. Hopefully, you learn something new. Feel free to comment!

Tapa Cloth Dyeing
Today in "Hurumanu 4" we dyed our tapa cloth. (I did a blog post on it earlier) The Brown paper used brown dye. The black paper used white dye. Once our tapa clothes have finished drying we will re-do the lines using charcoal.

PE Hurumanu
Today in "Hurumanu 5" (PE Hurumanu) we did a 30m sprint and An Agility test. We had to test our pulse before each of the activities and after to see what our pulse was. Before my 30m sprint, my pulse was 94BPM (Beats Per Minute), and after it was 135. Before my Agility Test, my pulse was 89, and after it was 139. The time I took for me to do the 30m Sprint was 18.57. And the time it took me to do the Agility Test was 19.24. Feel Free To Comment/Ask Questions

Football/Soccer Haiku Poem
Today in "Hurumanu 4" (Poetic arts) we had to create a Haiku poem about anything we wanted. Of course... I chose Football/Soccer. It's my favourite sport! If I could I would play it every day (Like I Do At School). A Haiku is a poem that uses syllables and doesn't rhyme, it has 3 lines and the 1st and 3rd line have 5 syllables and the 2nd line has 7. Syllables are like beats so in my name (Dylan) there are 2 beats or Syllables (Dy-lan). So here is my Football/Soccer Haiku.

Pasta Restaurant
Today in "Hurumanu" we had to create a "Mood Board" and a "Restaurant Brand Design" about the interior and exterior of our chosen type of Restaurant, and about what our restaurant would look like I chose an Italian Pasta Restaurant. We had to choose a name, choose what food would be on our menu, choose our colours, and some fonts for our logo, and finally create some logos. It is a very fun activity. Here is my "mood board" and my "Restaurant Brand Design". Feel free to comment!
The Piping Puppet
The last week in "Wanaga" we have been working on a comic. We had to make up our own superhero and their power. My superhero's name is The Piping Puppet, and his power is Manipulation. It took a while because of planning and all that. The Piping Puppet's City is called "Globe City" and his enemy is The Pied Piper. The Piping Puppet uses a Kazoo to Manipulate his enemies and villains. Next time I would probably put more onomatopoeia and a little bit more colour. But overall I'm really happy with how it turned out. Here is my comic, Feel free to comment!

6 Line/Word Poem
Today for "HR" we had to write down a poem on a postcard that we are going to send to our buddy class at St Peters school in Cambridge. Your poem could be made up or something that happened. There are 6 lines that we put 6 words on. The 1st line was Something you saw, the 2nd line was something you remember, the 3rd line was a person who was with you, the 4th line was an imaginary thing that didn't happen, the 5th line was the reason for your journey and the last line was your own 6-word conclusion. This is my poem, feel free to comment!

Word Art
Today in "Wananga" (Form Time) We had 90 seconds to write down as many feelings as we can that we felt during the lockdown. I wrote 18 feelings and the closest other person was at 16. Once we wrote down our feelings we had to go on to the word art website and create a word art using the feelings we wrote down. After we finished that we had to write sentences about our chosen feeling. Here are my Sentences and Word art. Feel free to comment!
I felt excited about going back to school after the recent lockdown event because I could see all my Friends and Teachers and do work at school.
I felt anxious when we returned back to school after the recent lockdown event because I was paranoid about people touching me.
I felt scared during the recent lockdown event when we had to return to school because I felt strange and paranoid because I had to try and keep 1 metre away from everybody else. I can't wait until we go back to normal!

Hand washing in Level 2
Today we finally get to come back to school. So... We had to do some school work Yay! We had to create a hand washing poster to put around the school. My buddy Reuben and I created this poster. We had to make a lot of changes because we didn't have any colour on the poster. So we improvised and instead of changing the colour of the writing, we instead put some word art so we could colour it in. Here is our poster. Feel free to comment!

My Hagglund
Today in "Working From Home" I read a story about Antarctica. Once you had finished reading the story you had to create a "Thinglink" about the Main Character. My story didn't have the main character so I created a "Thinglink" about a "Hāgglund". A Hāgglund is a Swedish Vehicle built in 1974 used for military purposes. But once scientists started coming to Antarctica, they used it for traveling long distances. This Hāgglund was very fun to make and research. Here is my Hāgglund. If you have any comments or questions please comment below. P.S You can also have a ride in a Hāgglund at the international Antarctic center. There is an obstacle course built for the Hāgglund. Here is a photo of me in it.

Solvemoji Puzzles
Today in "Working From Home" My step mum (Jess) and I worked on some Emoji puzzles. Instead of numbers, there were Emojis. You had to work out the value of the Emoji's and solve the Equation. They started off being easy, then they got to medium, and then they went to hard. Hard wasn't super hard, but it was a little bit tricky. It took us about 25 minutes. Here are the Emoji puzzles. Feel free to comment! (Answers are in the slide underneath the equations)

The Sneaglegator
Today in "Working From Home" I read a description about "The Sneaglegator" It's a mystical creature that is part Eagle, part Alligator, and part Snake. They have scales like Alligators wings like an Eagle and a body like a Snake. The adult males have a darker green color and they like to hide up high in the treetops and down low on the forest floor. You can usually find them in rainforests but very few human beings have seen them. They are now critically endangered and there are only 63 left in the entire world. They are one of the very few creatures that hunt at night time. They are also nocturnal. I read the description and we had to make a google drawing, drawing, etc. About what you think the Sneaglegator would look like. Here is my image of the Sneaglegator hope you like it!

Today in "Working From Home" I made a DLO (Digital Learning Object) about Julian Dennison. Julian Dennison is an actor from Lower Hutt City. He became even more famous by starring in the movie "Hunt For The Wilderpeople" as his role "Ricky Baker" but his first movie was Shopping (2013) Here is the DLO that I made about Julian Dennison. Different Types Of Sentences
In the past few weeks for hurumanu 3, we have been learning about different types of sentences. We have learned about 3 different types of sentences. The w-start, The adverb-start, and the very short sentence.
The w-start starts with a w word, eg. While, whilst, when, and where. Eg. Whilst Bob was sleeping, I crept out of the house. The very short sentence is used to create suspense and or drama. eg. From Moby dick by Herman Melville, Call me Ishmael. And the very short sentence has to be 5 words or less. The Adverb start is a sentence that starts with an Adverb. which is an adjective mixed in with a verb and it has to end with ly. eg. Annoyingly, he had to wait in the car for hours.
We had to write two sentences for each about our biltong experiments or our seedling experiments. These are my sentences. Feel free to comment below!
Adverb-Starts
1. Anxiously, we had to wait 2 weeks before we could try our biltong.
2. Disgustingly, he screwed up his face because the biltong was too salty.
W-Starts
1. Whilst he was gone, the bean went all furry and moldy.
2. When he was gone, the seed attempted to grow.
And finally, Very Short Sentences.
1. The seed grew.
2. The biltong was too salty.

Science of Mars Task #2 Growing Seedlings
Last week we planted beans. well not planted but put them in a beaker with a wet paper towel. I was in a group with Kyle.
Today we looked at the beans again and for some reason mine was moldy. Mine and Kyle's were at the same level and for some reason, Kyle's didn't go moldy.
I think it went moldy because there was too much water and the water drowned it, and then the water evaporated and the bean was exposed to air.
Science of Mars task #2 Growing Seedlings
Today for Hurumanu 3 we learned about seedlings. We made a DLO (Digital Learning Object) about some questions that we had to answer. The questions were... Why do plants always need to grow? Why might Sunflowers be a good flower to take on a space mission? and What is Germination?
It was kind of tricky because I didn't know what germination was so I had to do a bit of research.
This is my DLO! Feel free to comment.
