Novel Study. Before Reading

Hello everyone welcome back to my blog. It is the second day of term 4 and today we started out Novel Study. The book I chose is called Freak the Mighty, before we started reading we had a few questions we had to answer. Mostly about inferencing and looking at the cover to find clues about the text. This is the blurb on the back;

'Killer Kane, Killer Kane, had a kid who got no brain!'  Maxwell Kane is used to being called stupid. Worse still everyone says he looks like his fearsome dad. Even his grandparents are a little afraid of him. But then he meets Kevin, who isn't afraid of anything. Together with Kevin, the 'midget man' with the biggest brain in the world, Max can handle anything. Together, they are Freak the Mighty, ready to slay dragons and rescue damsels in distress. But, as they soon find out, it isn't just damsels who need rescuing...

The blurb is very informative and tells us a lot about the main characters. It seems like it will be a very enjoyable book and I don't think I will be able to put it down.

What impression do you get from the front cover? What can you infer about the book?

The cover doesn't really tell you much about the story, it's just a picture of a man with a child on his shoulder raising a sword up to the sunset. From that, I can infer that there is something to do with a child and a man. But other than that I can't really infer anything else about that.

I predict the book will be about...

I predict the book will be about a kid with Special needs or a facial deformity or something like that who gets bullied but then he finds a friend and they go on adventures. To a faraway land or an imaginary land.
