Today in science we learnt about bacteria and then we had to do a science experiment with agar. Agar is a jelly-like substance that I don't know much about. We had to wet a cotton bud and then get bacteria from anywhere in the science room. Then we had to wipe the cotton but on the agar. Mr Palmer is going to put our agar in the incubator and when we come back next week we will have a look and it should have different types of bacteria growing.
Aim: To learn about bacteria and how they grow.
Equipment:
1. Agar Dish,
2. Cotton Bud Swab,
3. Vivid Pen,
Method:
1. Collect the bacteria on a cotton bud swab from taps, computer keyboards or desks.
2. Divide the agar in half by drawing a line on the lid.
3. Wipe the swab on the agar solution.
4. Put the petri dish into the incubator for one week to let the bacteria grow.
5. Draw and label a bacteria.
6. Draw and label a scientific diagram of the experiment.
This sounds very interesting and fun. Might be a bit yukky by next week though. Please blog what happens. Thanks.
