Starlink Satellites

On the 17 of February 2020 at approx 9:45pm about 39 Satellites flew over Christchurch. They flew in a single file line. These were for SpaceX's Starlink. Starlink is a satellite constellation being constructed by American company SpaceX, to provide satellite internet access. This first launch of the satellite's was on the 14 of may 2019 when over 60 of them were launched.

Is was a really nice night so we all went out onto the grass and watched all of the satellite's go past. It was really cool because the ISS (International Space Station) and the Eagle helicopter were also flying over at the same time. Check these links out so you can see when the satellite's and the ISS (International Space Station) are flying over New Zealand next.

  1. It was a lot of fun trying to find them but once we did they were pretty awesome. It was a busy night in the sky :)

  2. Dylan we haven't seen them as yet but thankyou for the links. Now we will be able to find out the time and direction they are travelling no matter where we are.

  3. Nice job sharing your evening watching the statellites! I really enjoyed hearing about them when you and mum came to Hayley's conference! How cool that we are also learning about space in Science!

Keep up the great blogging, Dylan!
