Today in Hurumanu1 Who are we. We got to watch a video and take notes about The first Māori people that arrived in Aoteroa from Hawaiki around 1280. They came from SE Asia, Taiwan, Solomon islands and Papua New Guinea. Some scientists think they even got as far from South America.
We watched the video and took notes about the history of Aotearoa. We had to take notes about what they brang to Aotearoa like Kumura, Taro and paper mulberry. Aotearoa was dicscovered between 1200-1300 by Kupe and his wife Kuramārōtini when they were chasing Te-weke-a-Muturangi.
Once Kupe and his wife Kuramārōtini had gone back to Hawaiki the people came to Aotearoa in groups of 12-25 waka with at least 150 people each.
This was really fun and also interesting as well. Any questions or comments please feel free to comment!

Kia Ora Dylan!
ReplyDeleteI am super impressed that you have recalled the names of the first people to arrive in Aotearoa.
You have also remembered how many people were in each waka. Do you remember how these groups of people settled?
Keep up the great work.
